Beginning Basketry Workshop #1. This is a fun and easy hands-on experience for beginners. No experience necessary. Using reed material and a plywood base, participants will be introduced to simple traditional wicker basketry techniques. You will learn a basic weave pattern – “stake and strand” and will explore ways of shaping a basket form. We will also cover a few simple techniques to finish a basket edge. Materials included.

You will learn the basic weave pattern – “stake and strand” – and possibly a few variations. You will also be challenged to explore ways of manipulating the shape of your basket.
